The Game: Cowboys vs 49ers Preview
The 49ers have been a stubborn opponent for Dallas in recent years, and this game is the Cowboys’ chance to end a four-game losing streak in the series. San Francisco beat Dallas in the 2021 wild-card round, again in the 2022 divisional round, by 42-10 in 2023 and by 30-24 in October 2024, so a win at AT&T Stadium would carry weight well beyond the standings.
The Cowboys also have a personal storyline. Defensive tackle Osa Odighizuwa, a fixture on Dallas’s defensive line for years, was traded to the 49ers in March 2026, and he will line up against his former team. Dallas will be trying to show that its rebuilt defense under Christian Parker, featuring Kenny Clark and Quinnen Williams up front, can handle a strong San Francisco offense.

Dallas and San Francisco have met in the playoffs nine times, second only to 49ers-Packers, and the Cowboys lead those meetings 5-4. Dallas won the NFC Championship Games in 1970 and 1971 and the 1972 divisional round, while the 49ers won ‘The Catch’ game in the 1981 NFC Championship (28-27). The teams met in the NFC Championship Game three years in a row from 1992 to 1994, with Dallas winning in 1992 and 1993 and San Francisco in 1994.
More recently, San Francisco has taken control of the rivalry. The 49ers won the 2021 wild-card game (23-17) and the 2022 divisional game (19-12), then blew out Dallas 42-10 in 2023 and won 30-24 in 2024.
Getting to AT&T Stadium
AT&T Stadium is in Arlington’s Entertainment District, roughly midway between downtown Dallas and downtown Fort Worth and about 10 miles south of DFW Airport. Arlington has no rail service to the stadium, so nearly everyone arrives by car or rideshare. Lots generally open about five hours before Cowboys games (10:25 AM CT for this one), and you can buy parking in advance through the stadium’s official parking page. Where to Sit
For football, sideline seats in the 200 and 300 levels give the best balance of view and price: high enough to see plays develop, low enough to feel the crowd. The 100 level is the closest seated ring, the 400 level and the standing-room areas are the budget way in, and thanks to the stadium’s two huge arches there are no interior columns blocking the view. Bags are limited to clear totes up to 12″ x 6″ x 12″, one-gallon clear bags or small clutches.

Where to Stay
The Arlington Entertainment District is the simplest base: the stadium, Globe Life Field and Texas Live! are all within walking distance of each other, so you can walk to the game and skip the parking and rideshare queues. Loews Arlington Hotel sits inside Texas Live! and is the closest full-service option, and options such as the Drury Plaza Hotel Dallas Arlington trade a short drive for lower prices. For more nightlife and dining, downtown Fort Worth and downtown Dallas (where the Omni Dallas Hotel is a popular base) are each roughly 20-30 minutes away by car. Make a weekend of it. The Entertainment District has Globe Life Field, Texas Live!, Six Flags Over Texas and Hurricane Harbor Arlington within a short drive, and downtown Dallas and Fort Worth’s Stockyards are about 20 minutes away.
