The Game: Falcons vs San Francisco 49ers Preview
San Francisco’s trip to Atlanta carries real history: the 49ers eliminated the Falcons in the 2012 NFC Championship Game, still one of the most painful losses in franchise history. Whatever either team’s form looks like in October 2026, expect Falcons fans of a certain age to treat this one as personal.
Head-to-Head: Falcons vs San Francisco 49ers

|---|---|
| All-time series | 49ers lead 48-32-1 (all-time) |
The two teams share one of the more painful chapters in Falcons history: San Francisco beat Atlanta 28-24 in the 2012 NFC Championship Game at the old Georgia Dome, ending the Falcons’ best Super Bowl chance of that era.
Getting to Mercedes-Benz Stadium
Mercedes-Benz Stadium sits in downtown Atlanta, within walking distance of most downtown hotels and served directly by two MARTA stations. For directions, MARTA routes and accessibility, see our complete Mercedes-Benz Stadium guide.

Where to Sit
Sideline seats in the 100 or 200 level give the best balance of view and price for football. The Mercedes-Benz Club and Delta Sky360° Club run the two sidelines for a premium experience, and because the roof design removes interior columns, sightlines stay clean even from the upper deck. Bags are limited to clear totes up to 12″ x 6″ x 12″, one-gallon clear bags or small clutches.

Where to Stay
Downtown Atlanta is the simplest base: the stadium, Centennial Olympic Park, the Georgia Aquarium and State Farm Arena are all within walking distance of each other, and two MARTA stations sit right outside the stadium doors. The Centennial Olympic Park and Georgia World Congress Center areas are closest of all, a 10-15 minute walk from the stadium. Midtown Atlanta trades a short MARTA ride for more restaurants and nightlife. This is a Week 7 game on a Sunday, so most visitors arrive the day before and leave that evening or the following morning.

Things to Do Around the Game
Make a weekend of it. Downtown Atlanta has Centennial Olympic Park, the Georgia Aquarium, the World of Coca-Cola and State Farm Arena all within a short walk, and the BeltLine connects several more neighborhoods on foot and by streetcar if you have extra time. On a non-event day you can also tour Mercedes-Benz Stadium itself.
Book a Mercedes-Benz Stadium tour, an Atlanta city sightseeing experience, or skip-the-line tickets to the Georgia Aquarium and World of Coca-Cola. Check live availability below.
