Race Weekend Schedule & Concerts

SundayDec 6

Race day and the season finale, typically starting late afternoon as daylight fades into the floodlit night. The Chainsmokers and The Script close the weekend with a concert.

About Yas Marina Circuit

Yas Marina Circuit sits on Yas Island, a headland cut off from the Abu Dhabi mainland by a canal. Designed by Hermann Tilke, it opened in 2009 and has hosted the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix every year since, quickly becoming the traditional home of the F1 season finale.

It is one of the most distinctive tracks on the calendar. The 5.281 km lap winds past the marina and runs beneath the curved W Abu Dhabi hotel, while the pit lane exit dips through a tunnel under the track itself. The circuit uses a permanent lighting system, so the race starts in daylight and finishes under floodlights, which is a big part of its look on television and in person.

The layout was reworked ahead of the 2021 race. The old turns 4 to 6 were replaced with a single, less severe hairpin and the final sector was opened up to encourage closer racing, and the current lap has 16 corners. The fastest official F1 race lap, 1:25.637, was set by Kevin Magnussen in 2024.

Yas Marina Circuit layout: 16 corners, driven anti-clockwise.

The circuit offers a mix of viewing areas, including the Main, West, North, South and Marina grandstands and the Abu Dhabi Hill general admission zone. Organisers reported a record 339,000 attendees across the 2025 race weekend, so it pays to book early.

Which Pass Should You Choose?

For the full experience: the 4-day pass covers the whole weekend from Thursday to Sunday, so you can see the opening day, every on-track session and the race.

For the classic race weekend: the 3-day Friday to Sunday pass covers practice, qualifying and the Grand Prix itself. The hospitality version adds a more comfortable way to take in the same three days.

For a shorter trip: the 2-day Saturday and Sunday pass gives you qualifying and race day. If you only have one day, Sunday is the one for the race, while the other single days suit a specific concert on the bill.

Combining it with an evening show: if you’d also like to catch Andrea Bocelli on December 2, arrive a day early, as his show is a separate event the night before the race weekend begins.

Make a Day of It in Abu Dhabi

If you’re adding a day or two either side of race weekend, Yas Island and the capital have plenty to fill the time. These are three popular options, bookable through Klook.

Getting There & Where to Stay

Yas Marina Circuit is on Yas Island, a short drive from Abu Dhabi International Airport and roughly 30 minutes by road from central Abu Dhabi. Taxis and rideshares serve the island, and race-day crowds are heavy, so allow extra time getting in and out. Staying on Yas Island itself, around Yas Marina, Yas Mall or Ferrari World, puts the circuit and Etihad Park within easy reach and makes it simpler to get back after the evening concerts.

Hotels in the Grand Prix area book up and rise in price as race week approaches, so it’s worth securing a room early.
