What is Survivor Series: WarGames?

Survivor Series is one of WWE’s longest-running annual events, traditionally built around teams from the Raw and SmackDown brands facing off. Since 2022 the show has centred on WarGames, where two teams fight inside two rings joined by a roofed steel cage. The teams enter at staggered intervals, so the match keeps escalating as more wrestlers pour in, and it ends by submission or surrender.

Houston has a long wrestling history. The city has hosted WrestleMania (2001 and 2009), the Royal Rumble (1989 and 2020) and Survivor Series itself in 2017. This year’s show is the second year running that Survivor Series is played in a major sports stadium, after last year’s event at Petco Park in San Diego. The match card had not been announced at the time of writing, so check WWE’s official channels closer to the date.

Tickets

Tickets for Survivor Series: WarGames went on general sale through Ticketmaster in August, so there is no waiting for a presale. WWE’s own page also lists Survivor Series Pass packages from On Location, which include premium seating and pre-show hospitality. If you want to compare resale options, Hello Tickets was listing seats from about $76 with an average around $255 when we checked, though stock and prices change daily and can sit well above or below face value.

Tip: decide your budget and seating preference before you search. Lower-bowl seats and anything near the ring carry the biggest premiums on a premium live event night.

The venue: Daikin Park

Daikin Park, formerly Minute Maid Park, is the Houston Astros’ downtown ballpark. It has a three-panel retractable roof, which keeps weather out of the picture, and a baseball capacity of just over 41,000. For wrestling the layout changes, with the ring and a long entrance set up on the field, so seat views differ from a baseball game. Look at the seat map and section views on the ticket page before you commit.

Stadium rules apply on event day. The ballpark has a clear-bag policy that has applied at other events, so check Daikin Park’s current bag rules before you go. The venue is also cashless, with concessions taking cards and mobile payments only.

Where to sit: seat map

For Survivor Series, the two WarGames rings sit side by side on the field, with an entrance ramp running out toward the 116 to 122 sections. The map below shows how the floor and the four seating levels wrap around them.

Illustrative layout. Sections and availability change, so check the ticket page.
  • Floor (A and B sections): closest to the rings and the ramp. As at most stadium shows, you are at the same level as the action, so your view depends on how far back you are.
  • 100 level: the lower bowl around the field, with an elevated view across both rings.
  • 200 and 300 levels: higher up, wrapping around the stadium, with a wider view of the whole set-up.
  • 400 level: the highest and furthest seats, usually the best way to keep the price down.
  • Grey sections on the map are not on sale for this event.

Getting there and getting around

Flights

Houston has two main airports. George Bush Intercontinental (IAH) is the larger international hub, about 20 miles north of downtown. William P. Hobby (HOU) is closer, about 10 miles from the stadium. Visitors from visa waiver countries need an approved ESTA before flying to the United States, so confirm entry requirements on the official government site.

To the stadium

  • METRORail: the Purple and Green lines stop at Convention District Station, a few blocks away. The Red line stops at Preston Station, about a 10-minute walk. Check current schedules for Saturday evening.
  • Rideshare: Uber and Lyft use a pickup and drop-off zone on the north side of the stadium along Preston Street. Expect surge pricing right after the show.
  • Driving: thousands of parking spaces sit within about half a mile, across official lots and private garages in the Central Business District. Book parking in advance if you can.

Where to stay

The most convenient base is downtown, within walking distance of the stadium. Examples include the Marriott Marquis Houston, the Hilton Americas-Houston and The Laura Hotel. Market Square is a short walk away and has a good choice of bars and restaurants. If you prefer something quieter, the Museum District and Medical Center are reachable on the Red line. Event weekends push prices up, so book early and choose a flexible rate if you can.

Suggested hotel: The Post Oak Hotel at Uptown Houston

For a more luxurious stay, The Post Oak Hotel at Uptown Houston is on West Loop South in the Uptown and Galleria area, a short drive from downtown rather than a walk from the stadium. Its facilities include a spa, several restaurants including Mastro’s Steakhouse, and an outdoor pool with private cabanas, so it suits a longer trip where the hotel is part of the experience. Plan on a rideshare or drive to Daikin Park.

Things to do in Houston

If you are travelling for Survivor Series, it is worth adding a day or two. Houston is a big, spread-out city, so these three options cover the classics: space, a city overview and a major museum. Downtown also has Discovery Green, a city park with events and food, and Houston is well known for its barbecue and Tex-Mex, so build a meal or two around your plans.

Space Center Houston

Space Center Houston is a visitor and learning centre for space exploration, with NASA tram tours, exhibits and a show in its theatre that is included with general admission. It sits on NASA Parkway, south-east of downtown, so it is a half-day trip rather than a quick stop. It is also an easy option for the day before the show, when you want something indoors and low-effort.

Practical tips for fans

  • Arrive early. Gates, security checks and the walk from the rail station all take longer on a big event night.
  • Carry only what you need and check the stadium’s bag policy before you leave your hotel.
  • Bring a card or phone for payment, since the ballpark is cashless.
  • Have a plan for the ride home, either an advance parking booking or a rail schedule you have checked.
  • Late November in Houston is usually mild, but pack a light layer for the evening.
