The final at a glance
Why this final matters
The Copa Libertadores is South America’s biggest club competition, and the winner is crowned in a single match. This year’s final brings Brazil and Argentina face to face again: the two countries are level on 25 Libertadores titles each, so the winner will move one ahead of the other in the all-time count.
Palmeiras, from São Paulo, are in their second final in a row after losing to Flamengo in 2025. They have won the trophy three times, in 1999, 2020 and 2021, and are chasing a fourth. They reached Montevideo by beating Fluminense on penalties after losing the second leg of the semi-final 1-0.
Estudiantes de La Plata won the competition three times in a row from 1968 to 1970 and again in 2009, and are looking for a fifth title. They beat Flamengo on penalties in the semi-final after two goalless draws, with goalkeeper Fernando Muslera saving three penalties in the shootout.
Copa Libertadores final tickets
Many tickets go to the two clubs’ supporters, so visitors without a club connection usually buy through resale marketplaces. Prices are set by sellers, and the final is expected to sell out. At the time of writing, Hello Tickets showed only a handful of seats left in the Tribuna Olímpica and Tribuna América categories.

Estadio Centenario
The Estadio Centenario was built for the first World Cup in 1930 and hosted the final, when Uruguay beat Argentina to become the first world champions. Its tall Torre de los Homenajes makes it one of football’s most recognisable historic grounds, and it holds about 60,000 fans.
The stadium also houses the Museo del Fútbol, which covers the history of Uruguayan football and the 1930 World Cup. If you arrive in Montevideo a day early, it makes a good visit before the match.
Where to sit
The two categories listed on Hello Tickets are the Tribuna Olímpica and the Tribuna América, the main stands along the sides of the pitch. They give the best view of the whole match and are the most expensive. The Colombes and Ámsterdam stands are behind the goals and usually cost less.
Because the final is a neutral-venue match, supporters of both teams will be present. Check which stand your ticket is for before you buy, and check the listing details for any restrictions.
Getting there
The stadium is in Parque Batlle, a few kilometres from central Montevideo. Taxis, ride-hailing apps and local buses all run there. Expect heavy traffic and security checks on match day, so leave early and keep the time of your return journey flexible.
If you arrive by air, Carrasco International Airport is on the eastern edge of Montevideo, and the drive to the city centre takes roughly 20 to 30 minutes without traffic.
Where to stay
Hotel demand rises sharply for a final, so book early. Ciudad Vieja, the old town beside the port, and Centro put you close to the sights and restaurants, while Pocitos is a seafront district with a livelier evening scene.
Suggested hotel: Costanero Hotel Montevideo – MGallery Collection
The Costanero is a boutique hotel at Rambla República del Perú 1371 in Pocitos, on Pocitos Bay. It has sea-view rooms, a pool, a wellness area and spa, and the Cauce restaurant and bar, and the beach is a short walk away.
