It opened in 1999, had a $192 million renovation in 2018, and holds about 17,500 for basketball, which keeps the game close wherever you sit. The Hawks themselves date back to 1946 and won the 1958 NBA title as the St. Louis Hawks before moving to Atlanta in 1968.

The 2026/27 calendar is full of reasons to plan a trip. The Wizards visit on November 6 in an NBA Cup group game, and Trae Young could return with them. Zaccharie Risacher could return with the Mavericks on January 2. On Monday, January 18, which is Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Marietta native Jaylen Brown and LeBron James bring the 76ers to Atlanta for a 2:30 PM tip-off on NBC.

The schedule also suits visitors. Seven home games fall between December 19 and January 2, which makes the holiday period an easy time to see more than one game, and the Hawks host seven straight home games from February 5 to 16. Most weeknight games start at 7:00 PM, so you can still spend the day in the city.

Where to sit

State Farm Arena has a lower bowl, club seating and an upper bowl. For the best view of the court, the lower sideline sections, around 101 to 107 and 111 to 117, put you level with the benches and the play, and they carry the highest prices for marquee games. The Courtside Club and the Delta Sky360° Club add dining and lounge access if you want a more premium night.

For better value, upper-bowl centre sections such as 210 to 213 are often recommended, and the large video boards keep the action easy to follow. Midweek games against smaller-market teams are the easiest place to save, while MLK Day, the Knicks and the Celtics games sell fastest.

Getting there

State Farm Arena sits next to the GWCC/CNN Center MARTA station on the Blue and Green Lines, so rail is the easiest way to arrive. From Hartsfield-Jackson Airport, take MARTA to Five Points and change to a westbound Blue or Green Line train for one stop. If you are staying elsewhere in the city, Five Points is a 10 to 12 minute walk from the arena.

Driving is possible, with several garages around Centennial Olympic Park and the CNN Center within a few minutes’ walk. Prices rise on game nights, so book ahead where you can. For rideshare, the drop-off zone is on the south side of the arena along Centennial Olympic Park Drive, and pickups after the game often move to the Northside Drive side.
